Music for Memphis Benefit Concert.

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share some news for those of you who aren’t on Facebook/never check it/had to quit because Farmville was eating your life. Our amazing friend Heather Brown is putting on a benefit concert for Memphis at The Phoenix Theater in Petaluma on November 17th. We are still waiting to announce the full musical line up, but there will be music, art, raffles and a TON of Memphis!

I also wanted to thank you guys again for all your support over the past 2 years,  its been amazing having friends and family (and total strangers) help out as much as you all have. I know its a dead horse, but it’s one well worth beating.

Lots of love to you all,

Vince, Alexis & Memphis.

Little warrior

I wanted to say we are grateful for everything you’ve given already but we are still in desperate need of financial help. This additional surgery comes with more doctor appointments, more bills, more gas to drive to these appointments. We love you guys and honestly you give us strength. Thank you. Here are some photos of our little guy lately! 20110921-085619.jpg 20110921-085632.jpg 20110921-085647.jpg 20110921-085701.jpg 20110921-085728.jpg 20110921-085741.jpg 20110921-085752.jpg 20110921-085822.jpg 20110921-085806.jpg 20110921-085834.jpg 20110921-085847.jpg

Another surgery for our little warrior…

My grandmother and I took Memphis to the urologist today with some unfortunate news. It looks like my poor man may have a dead testicle or one that’s stuck in his abdomen. The doctor said more than likely it’s dead though which requires surgery either way. Now we have lots more doctors appointments that are expensive and far away. We are in another time of need. If you can donate even a dollar to our fund we will be so grateful. We are struggling to keep up with all of these bills and appointments. Once again we find our brave boy up against a mountain and us up against a mountain of bills. Anything will help, please click the “Memphis Borelli Relief Fund” link and you can make a donation via paypal. We appreciate and love all of you and all you do. Thank you.

Memphis’s first in-office Physical therapy session

Memphis had his first visit to Stephanie and Joanne’s office today! Stephanie is Memphis’s physical therapist and Joanne is his occupational therapist. Memphis had a blast, and was much more focused than he is at home. He worked so hard today! Now he’s passed out in my arms. A well deserved rest! Here are some photos and videos of the events of the day!

Hospital? Again?

Memphis has been sick for the past few days, and after a doctors appointment today, he was diagnosed with pneumonia, and admitted to Kaiser in San Francisco.

He’s on antibiotics, and has been receiving breathing treatments that are making it easier for him to breath. We aren’t sure how long we are going to be here, but the general consensus is 1-3 days.

Some of you have already started donating to the Memphis Borelli Relief Fund, and those people deserve a GIANT thank you. You have no idea how much you have helped us.

Thank you all again for all the love, kind words, thoughts and all the support.

We’ll post when we have more.

World Down Syndrome Day!!

Today is the first World Down Syndrome Day that we are celebrating as parents of a child with Down syndrome, and I am very excited! I am so very proud of my beautiful, talented, brilliant, funny boy. I am so grateful for the gifts he has given us, for the love he has shown us, and for all the ways he has changed our lives.

To be honest, I never thought I would be on this end of the celebration, but I couldn’t picture it any other way now. A lot of people used to ask me if I could go back in time and change things, would I, and the answer is always no. On many occasions that answer has been met with shock or disbelief, but I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. Memphis is who he was always meant to be, and I could never imagine him any differently. In the face of tremendous obstacles Memphis has worn a smile, he has taught me more strength and wisdom than I ever could have known without him, and I am so proud of who my son is. I wait, with great anticipation, to see the ways in which Memphis will change the world.

I stand with the other mothers and fathers of children and adults with Down syndrome and I proudly celebrate today, because it truly is a celebration. Without our children the world could never be as bright or beautiful. I hope you all find a way to celebrate as well.

And if you haven’t taken the pledge yet, please visit The R-Word and help change the world for Memphis and all children with disabilities. SPREAD THE WORD TO END THE WORD!!

Happy World Down Syndrome Day!!!

My happy boy.

Just some words.

The lack up recent updates has been due mostly to the fact that there is very little new to report. Memphis has been continuing to develop as the same rate as a typical child. He is very close to walking (he might even start before I did).

He has started counting in a very rudimentary way. We will say a number between 1 and 3, and he will clap that number of times. His age coupled with our concerns about his development makes this a HUGE deal for us. I’ll post some video in the near future so you all can see.

Memphis just got over his first real cold a few days ago. Obviously we were worried, but it was no longer the “this cold could kill him” kind of worry that we had be dealing with pre surgery. He has a slight residual cough, but other than that is just fine.

That’s all for now. I’ll be posting some more pictures and videos in the next few days.

Lots of love,

Vince, Alexis and Memphis
